Why do High School dress codes not allow tank tops/camis?
I've never understood that. The only different between a t-shirt and a tank top is the texture and about half an inch/an inch of fabric.
I don't get that..How is it more revealing than a t-shirt? The sleeves are barely different.
I'm not complaining. That's not even a rule at my school. We're only allowed to wear polos. I was just curious.
Generally speaking, tank tops and cami's have a wide variety of styles and a lot of them reveal way too much. They have the under arm dip -most of them hang TOO low and show the sides of boobs and under garments. Cami's are just on the 'sexy' side and are not approprioate for school attire.
Since the tank tops take in a wide variety of styles -it's easier to ban all of them than pick and choose which ones are allowed -it becomes all relative at that point and where to draw the line.
I even know a BOWLING ALLEY in Bentonville, AR will not allow anyone (including children) in with Tank Tops? That I don't fully understand. I have witnessed the managers there send people out to get jackets or leave the alley... so if a bowling alley does not feel it is appropriate - of course, school will not.
Then again, I don't get why schools allow mini skirts but won't allow tank tops?
P.S. every school has different codes ...when I went to school (many moons ago) we were not allowed to wear shorts (even modest ones) but we could wear mini skirts!! That always ticked me off and I never could figure that one out!
